On this first day of the fiscal year (and thus the first day of the government shutdown), I took a bike ride around Washington to see first hand the impact of the government shutdown. I noted that the Pentagon parking lot was full as usual but the area around the national mall and on Capitol Hill was all quiet… eerily so. I stopped by the Lincoln Memorial and found it barricaded. It made me wonder what Abe would have thought about the shutdown. Hmmmm. What do you think?
